The Premier International Gatherings of Women in 2008

The Women's Festivals, a new conference created to "celebrate the accomplishments of women and inspire others to realize their dreams," launched with its inaugural event March 7 - 9 in Santa Barbara, California. The brainchild of Patty DeDominic and Mary Schnack, both successful entrepreneurs, the event was created to provide an interactive, multi-cultural forum focusing on the five key areas of women's lives: Personal, Professional, Philanthropic, Political, and Planet.  "We call these the 5 Ps," said Ms. DeDominic, recipient of the Los Angeles Business Journal's 2006 CEO of the Year Award."

Hiroko Tatebe, Founder and Executive Director of GOLD, participated as a panelist in the workshop titled "East Meets West: Why Cultural Competence Matters."

The panel discussion among international business leaders focused on the ways that cross cultural understandings and ethical principles influence global business behavior and how business relationships reflect these different values.  The panel was moderated by Laurie Harris, Visiting Professor and Lecturer in Ethics at the University of California at Santa Barbara.  Other panelists included Dr. Dagmar Steinmetz, Director for the World Association of Women Chiefs FCEM, and Yukako Uchinaga, Technical Advisor, IBM Japan, Ltd., and Board Chair, Japan Women's Innovative Network (J-Win).

Global Diversity and Inclusion Benchmarks

Global Diversity and Inclusion Benchmarks can help organizations assess and measure their progress in valuing and managing diversity and fostering inclusion.

The Bench Marks for Diversity was first published by the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) in the early 1990s.

Updated in 2006 by Julie O'Mara and Alan Richter, 14 categories were researched and compiled to create benchmarks that are derived from expert input worldwide.
